Still having symptoms, when can I expect relief?

Good day,

I've had tonsillitis for a while now, about a month now, and I've often had severe ear pain. After the first doctor's visit two weeks ago, I was only prescribed ibuprofen, not an antibiotic. I went to the doctor again yesterday, this time with a different one. He said I have extremely bad tonsils. I was prescribed amoxillin 825/125, and after about 24 hours I still have the same symptoms. My ears have only improved minimally, severe difficulty swallowing, and my nose has been running slightly since this morning. Will the antibiotic work? When can I expect milder symptoms? I'm asking this because I've lost my nerves and the pain has lasted for about a month. Please only share your own experiences. Strangely enough, not even ibuprofen helps.

Ibuprofen also helps little to hardly any inflamed almonds.

The anti-inflammatory drug in Ibus is not very high.

I think antibiotics are very advisable. Did it strike right away, did you take it through?
Inconveniently, the inflammation after the antibiotic has returned immediately.

You should go to the HNO again. The almonds should also be removed.

Have read the question incorrectly – but hardly changes to the statement.

Something might have dragged.

The doctor only tries to treat the problem – but not the cause.

Could make blood count to see the inflammatory values in the blood and possibly the almonds need to get out.

Since you’ve been contacting doctors, unfortunately, no one can tell you when your symptoms disappear. You’ve had antibiotics since yesterday….sorry, but the effect takes a little.

You should have asked that on site, not in a lay forum.

Yeah, it’s when you’ve been taking antibiotics since yesterday. The pharmacist could have explained that to you.

The effect of antibiotics depends on the type of antibiotics and the dosage form within a few hours (1). When patients feel better, it depends on the pathogen and microbiological diagnosis. As a rule, an improvement of the symptoms occurs after 1 to 2 days.

How long does it take for antibiotics to work?

amoxicillin usually begins to work within one to two hours after taking. However, it can be up to 48 to 72 hours last until a significant improvement of the symptoms can be seen.
