A slide has a height of 300px and stretches over the entire width of the browser window. All that goes beyond these dimensions is hidden. The images in turn are oriented in their scaling to the predetermined size (see object-fit: They scale up and wide until they fill out the entire surface of a slide without changing their side ratio.
The wider the browser window is, the further the image must also scale into the width and the more is cut off on the vertical plane (top/bottom).
