Gain weight on vacation?

Hello,

I wanted to ask how much weight you can gain in a two-week vacation if you already eat a lot (especially sweet things). But I exercise every day by cycling 12 km and running about 2 km. So I'm already burning a lot of calories.

In two weeks of vacation, weight gain can vary depending on eating habits and movement. If you take more calories than you burn, you will likely increase weight, but the amount depends on several factors.

  • Calorie surplus: If you take much more calories than you burn, you can notice it in a weight increase by using the many nuts and larger portions a day. 1 kg fat corresponds to a calorie surplus of 7,000 calories.
  • Movement: Through daily cycling and running, you will naturally burn many calories, which can help minimize the excess calories.
  • Water retention: Sometimes water retention occurs on holiday, especially when you eat more salty or heavily processed foods. This can lead to an apparent increase in weight in the short term, but it disappears after the holiday.

Overall, it could be that in two weeks you will take a few hundred grams to a kilogram if you eat significantly more than you burn. This can usually be easily reversed if you return to your normal eating and movement habits after your holiday.

I hope this will help you! Enjoy your vacation and don’t worry too much – it’s all right to enjoy something more. :

If you move enough, not too much. Candy should not be consumed daily.
