If this train connection is cancelled, what do I do if it becomes too tight?

I can only take this connection, otherwise I have to spend the night at the station:

Connection on Tue. 04.06.2024

• from Düsseldorf Airport , departure 20:33 Gl. 1 with RE 26833

• to Ibbenbüren , arrival 23:03 Gl. 2 with WFB95786

View connection: https://www.bahn.de/buchung/start?vbid=e0e833da-9591-428a-b61a-d1f25adb8fc5

Sometimes the transfer time is only 9 minutes. How do you handle booking train connections a month in advance?

I personally would risk it.

For the emergency, you can be prepared to take a taxi from Osnabrück or Rheine. After all, to Rheine or Osnabrück you will also arrive later from Düsseldorf Airport. Maybe someone else can pick up in Osnabrück or Rheine if necessary?

Whether the taxi costs are still being reimbursed under EU passenger rights can be settled in the next few days.

By the way, I would not take a (super) price ticket, but a flex price ticket. Then I wouldn’t have a train binding and if I could get it, I could get off at Düsseldorf airport.

There is no guarantee for missing connections of the ÖPNV. This is also not a booking, only an ÖPNV zone ticket. Take a rental car. Then it won’t happen.

I don’t book anything because you can’t book ÖPNV at all. You buy a ticket to zones or honeycombs. But I have Dticket. And if I travel somewhere, I often take a hotel night before or after. Such stress at the level of an asparagus I don’t do anymore.

What exactly is your specific question now? Are you afraid to book a ticket by train as you suspect a delay in your flight? Then book a flex price or normal price (regional transport only) and you have no train binding.

If you are stranded at night from railway debts at a railway station, you can use your passenger rights to refund for any hotel or taxi costs.

I wouldn’t book at all. Either this is too short or too late, then trains fall out or whatever.

I’d take the next possible train if you got out. Regionalexpress does not cost so much with the day ticket NRW.

If you really hang somewhere, you have to book a hotel room

I would not prebook as I said, but buy the ticket matching the same day at Düsseldorf Airport. 35 € for local transport is not too much
