Hello, I'm planning on buying a used MTB. It's a Trek Session 8 from 2015. Would it be possible to install a 180 mm suspension fork without damaging the frame geometry? And if it works without problems, is there anything I need to watch out for?

This problem is right next to my crank where the chain runs underneath. How can I prevent further damage? With a chainstay protector? I'm surprised that damage is occurring there, since the chain doesn't normally run underneath.
