I don't understand the crochet pattern?
Hi everyone, I just bought a crochet kit from Action for the first time. The end result is supposed to be a Santa Claus. It was going pretty well until I got to the hat. I've done it five times over now because it kept getting smaller until I couldn't crochet any further. I tried it loosely, a little tighter at first. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I'd hate to have bought the kit for nothing. Maybe someone can help me.
Start with an adjustable yarn ring, then ch 1. Work in the round.
- Round: 1 ch, 6 sc into the adjustable yarn ring. Pull the short end of the yarn loop to close the yarn ring, and close the round with a sl st in the first ch (= 6 sc).
- Round: 1 ch, 6 sc, close the round (= 6 sc)
- Round: 1 ch, 1 x 2 sc, 5 sc, close the round (= 7 sc)
- Round: 1 ch, 1 x 2 sc, 6 sc, close the round (= 8 sc)
- Round: 1 ch, 1 x 2 sc, 7 sc, close the round (= 9 sc)
- Round: 1 ch, 1 x 2 sc, 8 sc, close the round (= 10 sts)
- Round: 1 ch, * 1 x 2 sc, 4 sc, repeat from * and close the round. (= 12 sc)
etc.
Unfortunately, it's getting tighter and tighter for me until it's closed at some point.
After the air mesh, you crochet 2 fixed stitches in 1 stitch.
At the 7th round, you will recover the stitches between the **.
This means that you have to crochet 2 fixed stitches into the first stitch of the new round. This makes the body bigger.
Is that your problem or what exactly is it?
