I want to upgrade my RAM, what do I need to consider?

Hello,

About two years ago, I bought a pre-built gaming PC with 16GB of RAM. But now I'm starting to think it's not enough for me and I'd like to upgrade.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about it and would like to know what I need to keep in mind.

I currently have two 8 GB DDR 4 RAM cards, so 16 GB, and would like to upgrade to 32 GB.

Can I simply buy two more 8 GB RAM cards and plug them in, or should I buy two brand new 16 GB cards? Is there anything else I need to consider when installing them?

I've attached a picture with the remaining PC data that I don't currently have, if that's helpful.

Now I think that’s too little and I’d like to upgrade.

Unfortunately, I don’t know too much about it

Faith is not knowing. What are you relying on your knowledge that your unnamed problems are on the RAM?

What you should note: above all, compatibility with the motherboard, combining to the current RAM and the clock rate of the new RAM. You can add the new sticks in addition to the models, if compatible with each other. If not – new 2×16.

Yeah, they’d be compatible. You need to first see if the RAM type of the motherboard (DDR-4) is compatible and then whether the motherboard is enough to speed. (This is all true in your proposal) However, 16Gb should actually be sufficient. I would have checked first if you had a lot of programs running on the game. Check the task manager. LG

In the manual or on the manufacturer page of your motherboard there are compatibility lists.

These are by far not the only criteria that say what about compatibility 😉

And this RAM stands not on the compatibility list of the motherboard. It can but no one will guarantee it.

Yes, GDR4 and the MHZ

Theoretically you can just add 2x8GB. But this is obviously more prone to errors and could be unstable.
Replace the RAM with a 2x16GB kit is always the optimal solution.

Most users already have enough to activate the XMP. You don’t need a special RAM, and you actually have free choice, haptsache DDR4 2x16GB and 3600mhz. Mainboard compatibility lists can safely ignore that are no longer up to date.

But the RAM is full doesn’t mean you have to upgrade. There can cost some performance and if there will be really bad programs crashing or FPS Ruckler. Especially if you want to use your system for a while, it is worth a RAM upgrade.

Hello,

Can I just buy two more 8 GB RAM cards and get them

I guess. If, then buy exactly the same kit again

or should I buy two new 16GB cards?

At prices… you can buy new

Do I have to consider anything else when installing?

Hello.

Then I would take your current RAM to sell it for 10€+ at ebay classifieds if you find a buyer and get you a 32GB kit directly.

The upgrade from the RAM often leads to more problems than it is supposed to solve and 32 GB DDR4 RAM are also very favorable.

Because I actually only build servers, I can only tell you that not every combination of RAM seals is allowed there.

See in the manual what modules are supported in what combination and number at all and then I would also look at the CPU specs, because the processor must address the whole.

Would I buy it again? It only depends on what your 5600 will do in 1:1:1. 3866MT/s run on a 5950X with CL15 and 1.5V. 3733MT/s CL15 should go in 1:1:1 when the 5600 is deaf. On my old 3600, 3733MT/s ran with CL17 in 1:1:1 and even 4233MT/s with CL21 or so, on the 5700X did not even run stable on the floor 2400MT/s, neither SR nor DR RAM. So always depends on it.

I would at least try the kit and if you don’t get in the direction at all, send it back and buy a cheap one.
