I took finasteride 1mg tablets for four months to combat hereditary hair loss and developed gynecomastia. Is anyone else affected?

To treat hereditary hair loss, I took finasteride tablets, 1 mg once a day, for four months. Over the past few days, I've noticed that my breasts have significantly enlarged. Has anyone else had the same problem, or do you know anyone who has been or is affected by it? I already have an appointment with my GP and hope to conduct a hormone test somewhere as soon as possible. But now I have to wait. I'm obviously no longer taking the medication. If you experienced the same side effects, did they go away on their own in the months after stopping, or were you able to get medical help?

I have also been using finasteride for over a year, but I cannot confirm the side effect you have mentioned. Generally, however, it is so that the side effects disappear again with time when decomposing finasteride. But the doctor can tell you exactly. My skin doctor had recommended and prescribed the finasteride with the trade name Finural, she said it would come from German production and most of her patients would not have any side effects with it.

The active substance yes, but the amount of active substance can differ even if there is 1 mg on it, this does not always imply that there is 1 mg in it. At least I wouldn’t be so sure about tablets coming from the Far East.
