I'm in my bachelor's program and will soon be applying for a master's program, but I have no idea which specialization to choose. Should I start working first?
I specialized in marketing and finance/insurance for my bachelor's degree. However, through internships, I realized that neither of these was right for me and that I only enjoyed those subjects. I could imagine studying accounting or international management, but I just don't know.
Am I overthinking it, and will my specialization not be taken seriously when I apply? Should I continue studying while I'm still learning?
The focus in the Bachelor is not so important. The master, on the other hand, should go in the direction in which you want to work!
If you’re still insecure, it might be the better way if you’re looking for a job with your bachelor and you’re going where the trip is to go. It is also possible, by the way, that you do not need a master at all for the path you want, but that you might be able to better fit completely different educational paths.
Your thought is completely right! Just in your situation…
First go one, two, three years into a job, then you notice
You can do a master later, or you can also do other trainings or even nix (be smart in the job: professional experience).
A professional master is then the right thing for you, but you will quickly notice this in the job.
In itself, it is easier to study directly on the piece and not to work in between. Then one is even more in the university topics (e.g. statistics) inside, as well as in learning and has not yet become used to more money.
Depending on how much time you still have, you can try to insert an internship or otherwise get more information about it.
Just ask what exactly bothered you with the other jobs, then you’ll find out what might lie to you.
There are jobs and companies, then you only have a chance with appropriate specialization and with others it doesn’t matter as long as it goes in the same direction.
