How to get rid of unpleasant thoughts?
Hello, I've had an anxiety disorder for over a year now and I have really unpleasant thoughts that keep popping up in so many different areas. Be it religion, health, leisure, sport, everywhere, and they make me feel bad. I'm ashamed of these thoughts and don't want to have anything to do with them. It scares me because I'm not sure I really have nothing to do with them, but I never want to have anything to do with them. I often say I'm not my thoughts and so on, but I have a hard time getting away from them. Maybe someone knows something about it and knows what can help (I'm already in therapy, but it's still very new), thanks.
The best thing I think is:
Easy to observe and keep moving.
Just as if you were watching clouds in the sky.
So just don’t ask: “What could this cloud mean exactly?”, “Is that a head or a finger or anything else?” / “How is it that the cloud looks exactly the way it looks?”, but just keep watching and pulling quietly and without any interpretation.
I know that sounds so easy. But with time they will actually pull like the clouds. And don’t bother you.
Yes I often try this, but unfortunately I have always been accustomed to apologising for it and as far as the thoughts really make me feel bad and if then the ones in the subject of religion are hard not to apologize there even though I never want to do anything about it. But I don’t try to keep the fear coming in, but I know how it is always meant and try.
Thank you
