How to fill out financial forms correctly?

Hello Community,

quick question for you πŸ™‚ How do you do it correctly?

I often fill out forms/applications that require me to provide financial information.

For example, if I enter a positive amount, I would write: '-250.50€' (This is a credit of 250.50€ even though I put a '-' sign in front of the amount. I assume this is correct.)

But if I enter a negative amount I write 'DEBT -250.50€'.

I suspect that this is not the usual spelling used on government forms.

Banks have a common way of writing bank statements, e.g. an H (for credit) or an S (for debit) is written in front of the amounts.

Is there a common way of writing negative amounts that can be used when filling out forms from authorities?

Balance is written “250,50 €”. Right, what you suspect is not the usual way of writing.

A line before a number basically means minus.
So -250,50 €.
Unless there are fields in which “goods” or “Schools”.
Then the respective amount is entered there without sign.
