How to eat frozen fruit?
Good day,
I have frozen strawberries from Aldi in the freezer. The internet says I should heat them to 90°C to kill the viruses. Since I don't have a thermometer, it's a bit of a hindrance.
1. Question: How should I defrost it? In the oven, in the microwave, or by covering it with hot water?
2. Question: Is hot water from the tap enough?
Over 90% of the frozen fruit (and vegetables) comes from China. This is often burdened with bacteria and unfortunately also burdened with many pesticides banned in Germany. By heating you can reduce any bacteria, this does not affect the chemical load.
Um Ticker fruit I just pack in a bowl and let it so dry or if I need it for porridge it comes into the microwave. There is nothing to be poured over with hot water or cooked before.
TK vegetables are always cooked or roasted with me. or it is baked in the oven when I need it for a run-up. Always depends on what I use it for.
But I would be interested in what viruses should be in tk-obst. The stuff gets shocked there’s nothing going on.
Hepatitis A pathogens and noroviruses. Viruses do not die by cold
Do you cook on your fresh fruit and vegetables before you eat it? If I just wanted to doubt something, then the fruit would be over in nine out of ten cases and only sacked. Therefore no you still don’t have to boil it off or pour it over with hot water. Apart from you, of course, you can do that.
To your 2nd question: If it really is to be 90 degrees, hot water from the tap is of course NOT sufficient, that never has only approximately 90 degrees, otherwise you would constantly be frightened!
Frozen strawberries become muddy when they are chewed, it is not appetizing.
Make a jam out, or compote.
Frozen strawberries in a pot, without adding water, simmer 40% sugar, leave to simmer for another 10 minutes.
Hello,
can you please indicate the source here?
I don’t really see why you should heat the strawberries to 90°C to kill viruses.

Frozen berries: Beware of pathogens
As of: 19.03.2021 15:57
Frozen berry mixes are popular. But their contents can make you sick. They should never be processed or eaten directly.
by Christian Lang
Whether on fruit cake, in quark dishes, smoothies, or on muesli: frozen berry mixes have a wide range of uses. They are often processed raw, straight from the packaging. However, authorities regularly detect pesticide residues in frozen berries . While these are generally below the legally established limits, the advice from food inspectors is clear: The fruit should be washed thoroughly before consumption.
The German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) criticizes the fact that the limit values do not focus sufficiently on the interactions between individual pesticides in the human organism. While the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment does not see an urgent need for action, it confirmed, upon request from Markt, that further research is needed in this area.
Be sure to heat frozen berries before processing
Pathogens are repeatedly found in frozen berries. For example, fruit mixes have been recalled from stores due to possible norovirus contamination. Due to possible hepatitis A pathogens, consumer protection authorities also recommend heating the berries to a core temperature of at least 90 degrees Celsius before consumption . This renders pathogens harmless. This is especially important for sensitive individuals such as small children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. However, no such warning was found on any of the products examined by Markt. Instead, all manufacturers recommend thawing the berries at room temperature. Some even print recipe suggestions that use raw berries.
