How to adjust the cantilever brake correctly?

Hello, I own an older bike with cantilever brakes. Unfortunately, the front brake isn't working properly. After applying the front brake lever, the right brake shoe stops, drags on the rim, and doesn't return to its original position. The left brake shoe works as it should. What could be the problem?

It is a Shimano cantilever brake, with only one spring adjustment screw (left side).

Did you remove the brake arms yourself? In some models, the lower part in which an end of the spring is made of plastic and broken. The feather won’t stay where she should be. Look at this! This is the only real damage occurring at Shimano-Cantis.

If it is, the brake has finished. And good, because then you can afford this as a replacement:

XLC BR-C03

(I don’t think, because my Cantis are a little better, without plastic, and work perfectly.)

You usually have three holes on the frame to choose from, into which you could put the feather. Did you pay attention to that?

It is usually located on stretched bases for the brake arms.

Finishing, cleaning, lubricating, assembly. Lubricating and testing for ease of use.

The problem is not the base, the bearing is in the brake. Mostly a brass jack. It is riveted in most cases, and therefore bad to clean/oil. If there are rust approaches, only the exchange helps.
