How should I behave now?

Good evening,

I ordered something from Otto about 2 weeks ago and it was sent by Hermes, however the package never arrived. I then contacted Otto customer service directly and they immediately initiated an investigation into the package and told me to be patient, which I am doing. Today my doorbell rang and Hermes was at my door and was initially quite aggressive towards me and asked where the package was and that he had rung my doorbell and I supposedly said I was coming, then he put the package in the hallway. I then told him that I never received anything and that I had already contacted Otto and that they had started an investigation. After that he said I should sign something and he would give me the amount in cash straight away, which of course I said no to. He wrote down his number and said I should get in touch if I changed my mind. My question now is, what would you advise me or do?

Good evening.

You turned to the sender and that’s right. They are the contractual partner of the parcel service and may receive compensation. You either receive the goods again or refund the money.

The fact that the parcel service comes to you via the provider and requires a signature from you is not unusual. Just don’t sign.

I’m not a lawyer, I’m just a postman.

Kind regards.

that’s not how it works.

if then you get the money from Otto back and not from Hermes (is anyway the last …., worse than DHL). and good that you didn’t sign anything!

research can actually take some time.

Let him come.

If you didn’t get anything, you didn’t get anything. Don’t sign anything!

The supplier gets problems because of this, has to refund the value of the goods to Hermes, but this is not your problem.

That’s exactly what I answered. Just read and understand.

This is an extremely strange matter!

because WENN! a package comes off, which can happen already, then the shipping company is usually liable. for this, there is the insurance that the customer buys almost every time he sends something.

The fact that the messenger was with you personally and offered you to sign that you have received the package and want to reimburse you the amount in cash suggests that he has either lost a shipment too often, or would like to sign it out of the number.

If the money that the messenger offers you is really real, your problem should be solved by the fact that he will refund you the money. You can order what you originally wanted from the received money.

However, the problem of others who have experienced similar things with the same contemporaries has not yet been.

Now, if only the question is still raised, the poor guy is just chased by bad luck, so he’ll lose his job if Hermes has to pay for your damage, or he’s in there himself. Unfortunately, no one really can answer that.

In the end, you have three ways to be compensated:

  • you get the money from the messenger
  • you will get it from Hermes
  • Otto gets the money from Hermes and sends you the goods again

As it goes, you have to decide for yourself.

If he comes back tomorrow, don’t sign anything. He probably wants to prove that you got the package, otherwise he would have to refund the money.

Simple, just don’t open the door.

I rather think the package messenger has tied up the package and then tries to get out of history.

How did the story go?

How did the story go?

I don’t know, I’m not the questioner.
