How sensitive are ear jellyfish?
Yesterday, I discovered a large moon jellyfish on the North Sea beach. I don't know how long it had been lying there. Its skin was still shiny; as a layperson, I couldn't detect any signs of life. I felt sorry for it. I gently clicked it with my wading shoes three or four times until it was in the water. It didn't move at all! I read that jellyfish can survive on the beach for a maximum of three or four hours. Since they don't have a heart and only a simple nervous system, they shouldn't feel pain. Could I have injured it by gently "kicking" it?
Anyone know a little about this? Thanks for your reply!
As a rule, you can assume that invaded jellyfish that were already lying there are already all dead, who do not survive long.
In the water, surviving animals would start to increase their typical swimming movements.
And you can also touch ear qualifiers that are absolutely harmless for people.
Thank you for your quick answer! I put my gloves in for the next time! But can you also give me an answer to whether they can kick carefully with the foot? I really tried to be careful!
Well, I think it’s hard to break the animals, they’re made of soft tissue and are pretty sensitive.
You don’t even need gloves with the ear qualifiers. Was used to swim often and also touched lively ear qualls cautiously, which do not hurt, but feel rather strange. ^^
However, you don’t have to have real sympathy with jelly, as stupid as it sounds, because of the species death and overfishing to correct plagues, which are like rabbits and multiply very strongly.
Thank you very much for your answer! I think she was already dead. But I know for the future! Happy for you!
She’s dead.
You don’t have to be insulted with the jelly anymore than with the leap that puts your eggs or a mosquito.
