How progressive should WaCa clans be?

Greetings,

In WaCa, the clans are relatively well-stocked with knowledge (at least compared to kittypets and strays), especially when it comes to herbs and such. Their dens are built rather practically, although there's still room for improvement.

Imagine a few clans in temperate climates. There are different types of loot, territories, and clans. So, the classic approach. The clans have access to a number of resources, including twigs, soil, and brushwood, as well as clay, stones, and gravel.

This gives you the option of building structures not only out of branches, but also, for example, walls out of clay. These would be significantly safer, more insulating, and more weatherproof. The camp wall could also be built out of clay, perhaps with stones. And the camp could have tunnels with large caves to protect against heavy rain. One could be one where you can enter, the other one where water flows in, perhaps even through small gutters within the camp.

Small "walls" made of clay and stones could also be placed along borders. If you're really creative, and the clans get along well, they could even build a kind of sports field in one place where events could take place. With different levels, like the Colosseum, for example. Of course, there would also be gatherings and the like.

Or there's a training area next to the camp, with extra sand to make training more effective. And the healers have small areas where they grow herbs.

Now don't come to me with, "But they're just cats, they can't do that in real life!" Theoretically, yes, they can, but they don't. That's just how it is in fantasy books, that's why it's called fantasy. And over generations of cats, new knowledge is formed, always with the goal of survival.

How much too much is that? Would you like to see something like this in the future of the clans? Feel free to add anything you can think of in the replies; your own ideas and such are also welcome.

I’ve been here forever since I read the books, but I think the problem might be that there should be a threshold that separates the cats from the people in the book.

It is of course fantasy and therefore everything is possible. The cats are very human in their behaviour, their clan structures and the way they interact and proceed are very human, so it is naturally possible, but nevertheless one should be careful not to pass a certain threshold.

Building camps from branches is something that still do some animals, just as original people and some tribes until today, it is still considered primitive and original. The use of clay, for example, is an achievement that is largely connected to man. Solid homes are already a waste of simple and natural resources. A house made of clay, for example, already protects almost completely from all elements, while a roof made of branches still lets rain through, quasi still has a connection to nature.

When cats use this “human-exclusive” technique, they may be humanized so strongly for the reader that the relation to “cat-being” either disappears, or the whole feels just contradictory, since the cats in the books should be basically normal cats. I think the type of use is also crucial. If these clay walls are really similar to human architecture, the threshold for me is definitely exceeded if there are more simple cubes or enveloped hills etc., it would be more for me to associate with the idea of a cat.

The cats are, as stated, on the state of original human tribes, which in their way of life can still harmoniously fit into the animal world. With more modern human technologies, constructions etc., this connection is less and less, this way of life can probably no longer be projected on animals, as it is just human-typical.

Greetings:)

In itself, the ideas are good, especially for a FF. Above all, I like the idea with the clay, but only for the camp. Lehm and stone walls on the pellet as well as a “colosseum” are too noticeable and could direct the attention of the two-legged to the cats.

I also like sand and herbal garden. Herbal feather also took care of certain herbs. You can expand this and make a real herbal garden.

It’s been forever since I read this, maybe sometime in the fifth grade or something. But I have a few points:

  1. I actually assume that they want to stay unnoticed before people? Such buildings would appear more
  2. You have in the books the same intelligence of a person, so yes, hypothetical would be the construction in such a fantasy novel possible.
  3. Do it, it is a FF, and as long as it is well written, why not

The idea is good, but then the cats would have much less time to hunt and patrol because they would have to cultivate the building and balls more than they would have to.

So I find the ideas good for ne FF. Otherwise, it’s a bit exaggerated, isn’t it? And with the sports field, at the Clans, make sure that before (or after) the assembly the clans meet to the so-called games. So a kind of competition. What do you think?

May the StarsClan light your way!

In itself an interesting idea, but I think that’s a bit lost in the WaCa Feeling.
