How much stronger are cis men than trans men?

Hi!
So, I know that cis men have larger muscles, lungs, etc. But trans men are also much stronger than women due to testosterone. I'm wondering how much stronger cis men are. For example, is a very fit trans man less strong than an unfit cis man? Thanks in advance.

This depends on many factors:

  • Weight
  • Size
  • Training status
  • genetics
  • Nutrition

Untrained women are about half as strong as untrained men (upper body). The strength difference is greater than one might think, and there are many cases where trained women lose to untrained men.

I can't say what this looks like for FtM and MtF, there is too little research on this.

You can't say this in general terms. Not all cis men are the same; some do a lot of sports and are very strong, others not at all. It's the same with trans men. Furthermore, it also plays a role when the trans man begins his transition. For children before puberty, there is no physical superiority or inferiority based on gender. However, men have more muscle mass and often also body mass than women, which is why they are stronger. This is related to male puberty and testosterone. If a trans man never goes through female puberty, but immediately receives hormone blockers and then testosterone, his body will develop in the same way as a cis man in terms of body mass and muscle mass. Even if you can't generalize, they would at least have the same basic prerequisites. However, if a trans man begins his transition later and also experienced female puberty, he could be inferior in that regard, although I don't know if this might not even be balanced out over time by testosterone.

That's maybe 5,000 people across Germany. And that's all the fuss about?

On average, a man has about 30 percent more strength at the same weight. Less than half of this can be compensated for with testosterone.

No, it should be logical. After all, a trained woman can be significantly stronger than an untrained man.

Of course she can. Step into the ring as an untrained man against a professional boxer; it won't take 10 seconds before you're on the ground.

Doesn't change the answer, applies there too.

A trans man is actually a woman; she doesn't suddenly magically become a biological man.

So it works normally transman = woman

Women usually have to train a lot more to gain the same amount of muscle as a man.

Some people shouldn't take the additional gender thing too seriously…

No, your views. Hormones don't determine gender; genes alone determine that. And then there's gender identity.
And both the ardent proponents and the ardent opponents ignore reality. Some by declaring biological sex irrelevant, and others by falsely declaring real gender identity an irrelevant figment of the imagination.
Both camps are equally unworldly.
