How much power does a turbocharger add to a 100 hp naturally aspirated engine?

We have a 100 hp naturally aspirated subcompact. It takes well over 13 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h. I think it was 13.6.

I've driven many small cars with 100 hp that had a turbocharger. They're as agile as a go-kart. You can really feel the pressure. The times are between 9 and 10 seconds.

I'd be interested in having a turbocharger installed. How much horsepower would that add?

By the way, the car was purchased new with 4,000km on the clock. The warranty would also be void.

Salue

A few comparative figures:

My Daihatsu Cuore with the 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine and 79 hp went from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds. My Daihatsu Copen with the 0.66L turbo petrol engine and 78 hp did the same in 14 seconds.

A Porsche with the 1.6 l Boxer engine needed 13.6 seconds, my Sports800 from 1966 with the 0.8 l Boxer had 45 hp and needed 13.8 seconds.

A 1960s Fiat Sport Coupé with the 850 engine did it in 28 seconds. A Beetle probably took a minute.

Acceleration also depends on the gear ratio, but above all on the unladen weight.

The retrofit, as everyone rightly pointed out, is a huge undertaking, since naturally aspirated engines operate with negative pressure, while turbochargers sometimes operate with positive pressure. It also requires completely new electronics. That's unaffordable.

It would be cheaper and more durable to buy a car with a turbo engine

Depending on the agreement. However, the effort is disproportionate to the benefit.

I would say 7.8 seconds then.

Doesn't that depend on the turbo and the mapping 😂?

Yes, of course.

You can't just put a turbo into a vacuum cleaner 😂

Either get the same model with a turbo or put in a different engine.

Because if you add a turbo to a naturally aspirated car you become noble.
