Do you have a comparable estimate of how much it would cost to replace the hydraulic lifters? I asked a workshop, and they said €1,500 + VAT. That seems a bit too much to me.

Unfortunately, this is already happening at the M271 engine – at Mercedes this is even more upgradeable and can cost to the 2000 euros. However, it is worth asking in workshops in the country; they are often somewhat cheaper than the businesses in the city and the suburbs.
