How long can you survive in space with one oxygen tank?

When you're in space and you don't have a spacesuit and the only thing you have is an oxygen tank to breathe from.

In other words: How long can you survive in space if you don't take the lack of oxygen into account?

The oxygen bottle would not be relevant because it could not be breathed in a vacuum. The problem would be that the low pressure in the blood would immediately cause gas bubbles, similar to the diver’s disease, if you appeared too fast. The result would be an embolism by which the brain would no longer be supplied with oxygen. That’s not the only one. This is about a minute (yes, there were animal experiments) before the damage is deadly.

The NASA has made some reflections on this topic (but without an oxygen bottle) and has come to a maximum of about a minute.

I believe an oxygen bottle is not very helpful, because there are problems with the non-existent external pressure. Then the blood begins to boil. (but not immediately)

Anyway, you don’t burst.

No fraction of a second, because the vacuum would tear you up immediately. You’ll burst.

Without protective suit – not at all.

With protective suit – as long as the oxygen bottle produces what…

Not at all, in a vacuum you will be boiled softly in no time.

in order to be exact, because for cooking the higher temperatures already need.

a few minutes maybe. Unlike you can see in movies, you do not burst in a vacuum, and the pressure difference of 1 bar is not large enough. Since the vacuum is insulated relatively well heat, it is not freed within seconds.

The problem is that one cools out by evaporating the moisture, and through the pressure difference between lung and space one gets a lung edema relatively quickly.

One, two seconds, I think.

Oxygen is not the only problem. The temperature and the too low pressure are also added.

Oxygen bottle doesn’t help because you’re in a vacuum. You can only survive a few seconds, and that even if you blow all the air out of the lungs before that, because the otherwise burst I think.
