For some time now, shock images have been required on cigarette packets, among other things. Personally, I didn't want to smoke even before this requirement was introduced, but I find some of the images annoying and disgusting. I can imagine they're intended to discourage people from smoking. Were the images really effective, and what do you think?

It’s all a question of perspective. Some photos even have animating effect: e.g. the little boy who keeps the cigarette in the hand asking or the toddler with the pacifier cigarette. You signal that it’s never too early to start smoking…
