How does the eTicket Hessen (student ticket for 1 year) work?

If I have the chip card, what do I need to keep in mind? Do I have to select the city I want to travel to at the machine and then hold up the chip card?

Hey,

I also have the eTicket Hesse and I just drive comfortably anywhere, only if controlled I hold the card to the reader from the controller. In principle, you can press around the entire RMV area, just enter the train or bus.
