How does the email program or the people sending me the email know my name?

Yesterday, while shopping, I signed up for a fashion brand's newsletter for a discount. The email I received with the discount code had my real name in the "to" line (iOS, regular email program).

How do they know who I am? I haven't given my name anywhere.

The mail program knows who you are. You registered there with name.

Not by chance, the fashion market only knows your email. But the email provider knows your name.

The possibilities your clear name has come into the field are manifested. You should know how you signed up.

Technically, email addresses are presented as follows: "OptionalText ". "OptionalText" can be determined by the e-mail provider.

From the idea of certain of the sending providers the content. Mostly, it allows the user an adjustment possibility. However, there is also increasingly the possibility that the receiving provider overwrites when the user has set it so.

You must have entered your name, the name will be displayed directly in the distributor
with your name and the associated email saved.

'usually' is relative. I've never given my real name for an email address.

They don't know. Your mail program knows that and just fills it out.
