How does taking the train work?

Hello folks.

I have never taken a train before, especially for several hours.

I want to travel from Nuremberg to Bonn. I'm a little worried I'll take the wrong train because of the transfers.

Then the question is, does taking the train work like taking the bus? Does the train stop at every stop, or do you have to press the stop button like on a bus? Are the stop locations displayed on a screen?

And what about the suitcases? What if I need to go to the bathroom? Can I take the suitcases with me? I'm afraid they'll get stolen.

And is there a train line that doesn't require a transfer? It goes to both A and B.

And what if the train is delayed and I accidentally get on the wrong train?

It’s totally simple.

For http://www.Bahn.de you can plan and print your trip. You can also buy tickets online.

The tickets (or your travel planning) are exactly what track you need and when the train runs.

Just before the train arrives, there is a passage to which train station reaches. However, since your tickets/travel planning also includes the arrival time, it is quite easy.

You can leave the suitcases there (over you luggage rack) where you put them. Who’s stealing a suitcase full of laundry? Of course I would take valuables.

If you bought a train ticket without a train link, you can take any train. If you buy a savings ticket, you have to move and then have to take the train connection on your ticket (except you don’t get your connection because your train was late. The binding is then cancelled).

If you know exactly when you want to go and when you want to go back, I recommend buying a savings ticket. You should also book it early so you can get a cheaper ticket.

If you drive at times where much could be going, I also recommend a seat reservation on the route.

where and when the train stops

Under http://www.bahn.de you can see where and when the train stops.

You don’t have to press, the stops are set and the train stops there.

From Bonn-Nürnberg there are definitely trains that go through without change. You’ll need to look into the train exit as the most convenient connection for you.

It is useful to make a reservation for a small fee.

There’s room in the compartment for suitcases. For smaller suitcases in the luggage rack over the seats and for larger items of luggage, usually in the trunk at the end or in the middle of the compartment, only in gear next to you can not place the suitcase.

No man takes his suitcase to the toilet. Nevertheless, there is also the danger of the trunk theft, which, however, is rather small.

If necessary, take your handbag to the toilet and ask another traveler confidently if he looks after your suitcase. This usually does not take so long.

Then you should look at the departure station on the exit platform after the car stand indicator so that you can get directly into the right wagon with your luggage and don’t have to run through the train with difficulty.

Then there’s nothing to stop a relaxed journey.

The train stops automatically, the stops are cancelled

Sure you can take the suitcase to the toilet

Whether there are direct connections, you need to ask at Deutsche Bahn or under http://www.bahn.de look at yourself.

Only I’m afraid I’m taking the wrong train because of the change.

best to print out your travel documents (travel route) or use your smartphone, then you can always check out which train number you need to take and on which train the train passes

if the train has delay, which unfortunately happens, and therefore misses your connection train, this is stupid, but no world stop

then you take the next train (you sometimes have to wait several hours)

And how does it work with the suitcases, what if I have to go to the bathroom? I can take the suitcases. Because I’m afraid they’ll be stolen from me.

there are luggage compartments over the seats or you ask a nice person next to you to have an eye on your luggage

that I take the wrong train because of the change.

print out the “Travel Plan” the Train on the Track the Time to take. Pay attention to passages and display boards. And, no panic.

Keeps the train at every stop

Follow the train. From Nuremberg to Bonn you will certainly not take a tram, but IC/EC/ICE, which only hold at larger stations. And, no panic.

you need to press the stop button like the bus

No. And, no panic.

The holding columns are shown on a screen.

Mostly yes. In ICE always. And, no panic.

I can take the suitcases.

Let him go. No thief is so stupid in a suitcase without escape. Please take care of a fellow traveler for 2 minutes. And, no panic.

And there is a train line that is without change.

Not from Nuremberg to Bonn. By the way, the web site informs about such things quickly and easily. And, no panic.

And what if the train is delayed and I’m mistaken in the wrong train

Then be careful not to climb into any other train at delay, but to inform you about later connections to Bonn. And, no panic.

All in all: NO PANIK! Thousands of others create it daily.

from nürnberg to bonn you only have to change to frankfurt once.

every train connection can be read in the internet.

and if the train arrives to francfurt with delay, you can easily take another; the route frankfurt direction köln/düsseldorf is busy.

can only be stolen at railway stations, where such thieves are seized during the short stay at the luggage, which is placed in the big boxes near the doors.

If you don’t take a cabinet case, you can store almost everything in the luggage compartment over the sitting or in smaller compartments between sitting.

and while driving a box? How’s that going? where does the thief want to hide your case if you are looking for a train companion afterwards in the driving train or even arrive at the next stop the railway police?

you just make you worry too much, running is actually relaxing and pleasant, if there are no delays that you cannot catch up or leave an important appointment.

A train stops at every stop.

The further you drive, the greater the probability that the train stops in between.

I’d leave a big suitcase. Most of the time, some people are sitting around you, that everyone who takes your suitcase is also seen.

A small bag pder a backpack I would probably take along as a single traveler.

At least wallet etc.

If you take the wrong train, you might lose a lot of time.

You can http://www.bahn.de Find out the next line.

if necessary return the station.

Seriously?

Yes, trains stop at every stop.

If you take the wrong train, you’ll arrive elsewhere;-)
However, there are advertisements directly on the platform where the train goes, and on the train itself it stands again.

Yeah, you can take the suitcases. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t do this work either. You can also just ask a trusted person near you to look a bit at the suitcases. … By the way, I even let the phone in and just asked someone to have a little eye on it. Okay, but it was just a Samsung S3 mini.

There’s an app on the train. Download it. It will also help you if, for example, the first train is late, you will have to miss the next train and continue somehow differently.

Well, you’ll get the information without a phone. You can ask the Schaffner, or check the train info, or the hotline (01806 99 66 33, paid) or the yellow schedules. But I think you’re the easiest to do with the app.

  1. Yes it stops at any planned station, but there is a station on the way that is not indicated as a stop, then it is slowly traversed
  2. You can also ask your neighbors to take care of it
  3. no change at least once

The toilet cabins are so small that you can hardly take a seat on the rack chair with a suitcase. The easiest thing is to ask fellow travelers while your chair is short on your “rocks”…
