How does Germany work?
A family with two children and the possibility of earning only minimum wage has three options. The apartment costs €1,000 per month.
1) The entire family receives citizen's allowance. 500+500+320+320+1000 + various discounts such as the "family pass" = €2,620+ benefits.
As the children grow older, the amount increases to approximately 2800 euros
2) The husband works alone. Tax class 3. Gross 2100. Net 1700. +2*250 child benefit + 2*250 child supplement + 607€ housing benefit = 3307 euros without benefits. – Travel expenses to work. Effectively, the work brings
The man's approx. 550€, or 3.3€ / hour
3) both work. Earn about €3,000 + child benefit = €3,500 for a class 4 student.
– Travel expenses for wife – Babysitter if the kindergarten closes early. Effectively 3300 or less.
I studied economics. There I learned that incentives determine the vector of development. Not morals.
What I see there is that the most profitable thing is to sit on the back of the state and maybe work an extra 10 hours a month.
Am I wrong in my calculations?
Or where is the state heading, and who is responsible for it? Are there people who will publicly account for why they created such a system?
PS Please spare me the pseudo-moral whining: this isn't about conscience, about moral acceptance in society, or about biblical values.
Doesn't it seem to you that such a social system should be viewed as a hole in the Titanic?
This is a snapshot in time. In 10 years, there will be debate in Germany about abolishing the citizen's income. Then there won't be enough money for it. Germany can't afford a citizen's income of this size in the long run.
In 10 years? I don't think it will take that long!
Yes, they'll also impose a capital levy, so there'll be some money for a few years. 🤷♂️
Yes, the minimum wage is useless. It would only be worth working if you earned €18-20 an hour. But that's nowhere near enough to cover real estate prices in big cities.
Then you should increase the citizen's allowance to 1000€ pp and then be surprised that nobody goes to work
Then you can just call it an unconditional basic income. …no. …the condition is that you don't have a job to receive citizen's income 😆
But then a SKILLED WORKER earns €45 an hour, everything is considerably more expensive and you can't buy much for €20 minimum wage per hour.
Instead of arguing about whether to abolish the citizen's income, it might make more sense to discuss whether speculation with housing, energy or food should not be significantly restricted.
You're absolutely right! This is how Germany currently functions, or rather, this is how socialism works. But in my opinion, the goal behind this is to destroy Germany, or rather its economic strength.
I am surprised that those in power are so blind
They're not blind! They want to destroy Germany too! 😉
This is a typical right wing conspiracy fantasy
Where exactly is my mistake?
…..and that from our own government. …
I wish we had socialism. But the lack of it is to blame for the current situation.
🤣🤣🤣
The basic assumption that only a minimum wage is possible is BS.
There are other social benefits for housing benefit recipients, such as BuT.
The €500 difference each month allows for a lot of freedom, from hobbies to holidays.
Bs? What do you want to say?
Bullshit?
Yes, 500 euros makes a big difference. But if you compare whether one person works or two, there's no 500 euro difference.
Anyone who doesn't WANT to work, ie is physically able to do so, but doesn't feel like it because the social hammock is much more comfortable, doesn't DESERVE a vacation (from what?) or expensive hobbies!
