How does an A1 practical exam work?

Hi, in the practical test, you drive in front of the examiner, but how does the examiner tell you where to drive? Are there microphones?

Or does the examiner drive in front of you?

It's like in the driving school, just with a man more in the car that gives the instructions. The rider carries headphones under the helmet, the driving instructor or tester has a microphone.
