You need computer or laptop: You can do the broadcasts, the Internet, because you can get the radio to the Internet. Buy a microphone if you want to talk or interview people.

For a music program, you must have music that you can play (maybe with a permission).

Software: There are programs that help you send the radio online, e.g. Mixxx or Butt.

Login Streaming Service: You need a service on the Internet that makes your transmitter audible. Examples are Shoutcast or Icecast. It’s like the radio station that sends your music to everyone.

Play music: You create playlists or select the music you want to play. Then press “Play” and she runs over the Internet.

  1. Rent Streaming Server
  2. create, install, set up a streaming client
  3. Feed music through the computer’s audio input
  4. finished

These are the basics. If you want more, you need more hardware – e.g. a mixing console and a second sound card and so on.

Therefore, it would make sense to do butter with the fish and tell us how to send.

But honestly?

Web radio has become completely uninteresting in time of Youtube. You will hardly get listeners – and may be disappointed!

I’ve been running a web radio station for 11 years with a lot of money and congregation – and was glad to have more than 5 listeners in the evening!

It used to be simple, simple and free at noisy.fm, now unfortunately only over their app.

Otherwise you have to have your own server, of course, you need the music and, depending on the music, also a GEMA and GVL license.

As a server program is probably Azuracast with the best choice!

First you need a license – which costs as far as I know 10,000 EUR
