How do you get rid of obsessive thoughts?
Hello,
I'm a 15-year-old boy and I've been suffering from obsessive thoughts for four months, or at least that's what I think. It all started when I had a dream in which I was gay. This dream affected me so much that for a week I didn't really want to do anything and couldn't think of anything else. I googled and googled, which in retrospect may not have been the smartest idea. But it drove me so crazy that I was totally afraid of being trans. I used to be happy with my name and body… although for about two years now my body has felt foreign. The doctor said it could well be that I have depersonalization. That bothered me too, because I'd read that it can be related to being trans. But my thoughts change daily. Sometimes I'm happy to be a boy (I used to be extremely happy to be a boy), but sometimes something doesn't feel right. So, sometimes I feel like I have my thoughts under control, but then suddenly I lose that control again, and I'm devastated. I'm just not sure if I can even tell whether I'm trans, because my body and sometimes even my surroundings feel foreign. I simply don't know what's wrong with me, and I'm afraid of losing my current life. But I don't know why everything seems so unreal (even my reflection and sometimes even my name seem foreign to me), and why these trans thoughts don't go away in the long run.
Lg
I know that in the end it's up to me who I want to be, but maybe someone knows this and can tell me that it will go away.
Hey,
what you're experiencing is called puberty.
That's where everything is completely new. Just be more silent observer and don't be crazy with such thoughts.
At some point, you'll be aware of who you are. Enjoy your life and let things go. I don't think this has anything to do with forced thoughts.
For example, if you google after a certain behavior, or even after the symptoms of a disease, then you get a lot of information and some may even be consistent with your own condition, which does not mean that you also have the described disease.
Go down your googles in this direction and take you as you are, LG. 🙂
Thank you for the star and all the good you, LG. 🙂
This is puberty. In that time, your brain is rebuilding. These include unpleasant thoughts and feelings. But a little comfort:
This is over.
Hello
Try these techniques against compulsive thinking.
There are several ways to think forcibly. Because negative thoughts create negative feelings.
1. The easiest way: ask yourself:
"What is my next thought?"
That's exactly the same as if you want to talk to other people and ask yourself,"what do I say next?" Right from the moment, you only find something very difficult.
2nd possibility. Close your eyes and tell you:
"Don't imagine any pink elephants!"
Say that again and again. At least one minute. By saying that, you can see a pink elephant in the inner eye all the time and can think of nothing else. This takes a distance from the pressing situation in the head.
3. The best option:
Go to YouTube and find the video "the way to don't think". It is a sense exercise and uninhabited, but worth more than gold. I really helped this video and it will help you. The video lasts only 5 minutes and the technology mediated in it is absolutely brilliant. If you do the technique correctly, you have a rest in your head. Besides, you can do the technology everywhere and that without anyone else comes with it.
4. What also works well is to count two to three times with the inner voice up to 300. By doing this, the inner voice has something to do all the time and cannot think about the forced thoughts. This takes a distance from the pressing situation in the head. If you also make your eyes in this technique, it is a good way to fall asleep quickly.
The longer the techniques are carried out, the more and less attention is given to the forced thoughts and these are becoming more and more marginal and ever weaker.
PS What also helps to write down all thoughts once. This makes the thought carousel even calmer. Since you have written everything, you can be sure to have forgotten important things and your head will be calmer. The good one is also an overview.
PPS. You can also combine the techniques very well. And the third possibility is extremely good against fear, or all other negative feelings.
best regards
You better go to a therapist.
It might be exaggerated.
You shouldn't put your diagnosis yourself.
