How do you do that [write a book]?
I really have a lot of great book ideas. But I haven't even managed to start a short story yet… I'm afraid of doing something wrong or ruining my story(s). Another concern of mine is that I'm overwhelmed by even the smallest things: How do I set up the right things in Word? Do I have to do it right away… or are the standard A4 settings sufficient for the manuscript? And I often don't even know where to begin.
I know my question has a lot of individual questions, so thank you in advance. I look forward to your answers 🙂
Hallöchen,
the format settings are completely unimportant. You can do that when you’re done.
The longer your story is, the more systematic you should approach the thing to avoid continuity errors.
I recommend the following:
This creates a first draft. When writing, you will find many new ideas that you can incorporate. Moreover, by writing your created world becomes so much more real that it will be easier for you to describe it and develop it further.
The first draft must of course be revised. Check if the action is comprehensible. Whether there are continuity errors. Whether your characters develop realistically. Whether there is a good relationship between tension and relaxation etc.
Here you can also give it to people in your environment and ask for feedback. Do people understand your story?
Further tips:
Write up any idea. Is nothing worse than forgetting good ideas. Hold everything and consider how you can fit it.
Even if you picture your time ray naturally in the correct order, you don’t have to tell the story in the correct order. To include more tension and razzledazzle, you can tell individual chapters as a flashback. Or pretend to be a silent vision, which is then true. Attention! It must not be too much of it, otherwise it will be confusing.
If you create your own world and do not use existing countries or cities, consider a beautiful map. Let the best, dress them with details. Then you can always look on the map and see if it works. ZB comes this character from A to B? Is that realistic? It should be credible.
Change your narrative style. Describe things very precisely, for example, “a waiter sometimes lures a tapped, bonbon-coloured insertion cloth from the chest pocket”. But once you write days in a few sentences. This brings a refreshing change.
Use MS One Note and create your notes there. A segment for characters, one for action, one for places, one for ideas etc. Then you always have it with you, can write down and so. Creative incidents come this way, so it’s good to always record them.
There are, of course, more tips, but maybe it helps you.
Greetings & a lot of success! I’m sure you’ll write great stories!
PS: Don’t be afraid to do something wrong. You can’t do that. If you notice writing, the idea was not so good, you still had the learning process when writing. And many ideas come on the way.
Writing is an art. And most of them have to learn it as well as everything else.
There’s nothing I need to write about. That’s what I do.
Thanks a lot
Wow!
Super answer: I don’t have to write my own answer anymore :)) That’s exactly what I would have written.
Hello!
I would recommend you to go through the following steps. but first I would like to recommend a few websites, softwares and/or tools that can help you.
There are various writing forums on the Internet in which authors and hobby writers are active and write together on their stories.
after that you can just Googlen. two (in my opinion) Good writing forums in which I am also active are once
typing.de
here you can find, ask, search for test readers and much more. also they regularly organize a writing night where an author*in is too hospitable that you can ask and where you can write down deep into the night 🙂
Dsfo.de
if I remember correctly the largest writer Forum in Germany. here are really many active every day. in principle it has similar things as writing night.
Other websites/tools:
Nanowrimo.org
(in english)
Here you can enter your projects, target you and enter your written words. In the forum you can exchange and do something else.
In addition, once a year there is the Camp NaNo where you write together and the Nanowrimo November, whose aim is to write 50,000 words in November.
you also find some tools and templates for plotting 🙂
The standard page: Download template for Word, LibreOffice, Pages and other text processing – literaturcafe.de
Here you can find a standard page for download.
Notion
I don’t use notion myself, but that’s what some people use it.
Generators
I personally don’t use it, but there are a variety of things.
that was enough, but I could tell you more.
Just as I imagined:
Step 1: Find an idea
There are many methods for this. I would recommend you much to read and see what you like most when reading. Then I am looking for inspiring places to fit what I like to read. (for Fantasy, for example, Forest) I always record everything. as an example of fantasy. I think about what fantasy arts are and write everything up. Witches, dragons, etc. I’ll see what I like.
IMPORTANT: if you already have an idea, you don’t have to do it, but it certainly helps.
Step 2: Brainstorming
Take a notebook, open a page in Word, Notion or wherever, and just roughly write the idea. Then you can think out characters. It doesn’t have to be detailed. just write down ideas.
A good method is to imagine everything from his idea as in a movie.
then you write the most important scenes first unorthed how they fall into you. then you can sort them.
Step 3: Development
this is a step of plotting there you can just see if you want to do this or not.
Personally, for example, I am not a detailed poet.
if you have decided to make this step, you are now relying on your characters. for your hoist characters you can make detailed character arches. on the Internet there are also many templates. what should be included in the character arc:
General information (name, age, etc.) Appearance, family, background history
of course you can customize this according to history and character.
You can only perform secondary characters for a short time when overskin.
now you can work out your story. I don’t do that personally. you just have to see if that fits you.
you will consider what it is about in your history and write a kind of summary.
what many still do is create a chapter overview. i.e. write to each chapter what should be in it.
Step 4: Start writing
Just write down. If you’ve graduated, still look at what you wrote down and let the scenes flow into your story. what is very important: do not worry too much about whether the story is good.
And what my greatest mistake is, why I often do not write to you, don’t say shit my story must be 200 pages long, I have to decorate that much bigger.
and if it’s already up to 5 pages. Go to the rework after the story, you should want it, then you can improve it and decorate it.
you will find on the Internet (youtube and blogs) also any tips ^^
If you want to write with someone, you can write to me:)
Hope I could help:)
Heyyy
So I wrote a short story for the school, and the idea I liked so much that I reworked this 2 to 3 times, but it’s not finished yet. I started to make a character arch to the figures a few months ago, so you can better see how a figure would act. Then you should know what the basis of history is, so the action. It’s good if you know the end, but you can easily write it. Then write on it, you rework books again and again until they are perfect for yourself. I’m also doing word, relatively no matter if you change anything in the EInstellations.
If you haven’t even managed to start a short story (!), how is that supposed to work with a novel?
The least important is the setting on word. Take an empty manuscript page and write on it. Ready. You can change everything later if you want it.
You can make a lot of a story. And no story will be perfect in the beginning. You can only ruin them if there is one. But what does that mean: ruin? That she won’t be the way you thought? That happens, but that’s not a problem. You can change them at any time and of course always improve them. And finally, it’s your story.
And I often don’t know how to start.
By writing the story about history. Say, do a little concept. Which individuals, what do they do, what distinguishes them from ect. Which places. Time. And, most importantly, what do you want to say about history?
If you have, you start. And if you’ve finished writing it, you’ll leave it for a few days and read it again – and change all that you don’t like anymore.
You don’t care about the book set until you know how and where you want to publish it. You simply write a manuscript on A4 paper in block set with automatic syllable separation and the standard side edges. The best font is to use Times New Roman (12), Arial (10) or Palatino Linotype (11).
First of all, you should consider what you want to write. I just assume that you want to write a fictional work (compact, short story, novel, etc.).
In this case, you should consider a subject. Which direction should it go exactly? Which genre does you care? Do you want to bring knowledge from real life or create a world of your own completely unobstructed? … You should note your considerations, I would recommend a simple notepad.
As soon as you feel ready to make concrete reflections on characters and action, I would like to give you a tip to the way, as far as possible, not to write them in a notebook, but on sticks and take a wall (or a large piece of cardboard) to which you can attach them. So you have the option at any time to introduce new characters elsewhere, to change the course of the action, etc. and still have an overview of your entire planning without having to scroll around in a notebook.
Only if you really have an idea and it has been formulated sufficiently, would I make a real letter. If it helps you, you can also set a weekly write target, for example; if you are using settings in Word, a fully described page always corresponds to a standard page, so you can count very well; per week I would always recommend you around the 10 to 20 standard pages, just try it out once in doubt and adjust your target accordingly.
To publish, format, images/decoration, page numbers, imprint, table of contents, etc., you should not worry until your story is already rough finished and has to be reworked only slightly. Otherwise, at the end, you waste too much energy on this step, which is actually only relevant at the end, and possibly lose your pleasure again.

1. Education : Very much and very accurate reading. Professionalize your own grammar skills.
2.Handwerk tips. buy separate writing computers. Or write by hand in a wonderful booklet. Dictify. In the main computer: design the writing surface so that it is easy to write (writing type, size etc.). Paragraphs and listings etc do not initially matter. Just write first and set according to feeling paragraphs. At the end of the day make corrections. Or a day when you’re “empty” in your head.
3.Writing art: Important is the loose word-poor description of simple things such as gestures, mimics, posture, everyday activities. Orders of motion patterns are also very important: how do I go to a house, what do I do there, why and how do I do it, how do I leave it, and how do I bring it to paper in a few words?
Dialogues are also to be designed realistically and incorporated into a movement matrix. For example: “He moved his weight on the chair, leaned forward and replied quietly, “You know what this will result for you, Jonas?”
Of course you need a story, a plot and some main characters (two to three are very good, with two to three side figures). People always wear the story. Mitreissende identification people for the reader, which is extremely important, most preferably internally torn persons.
For example, the entire course of action can be divided into three to four parts of the book and then individual chapters can be identified either by title or only by numbers. Serial changes to places of action are such a favorite pattern of many authors, sometimes to the mouth of readers, but no need – just, it depends all on the story. And some craftsmen of writing.
You could set everything professionally now or you just start. It’s DEINE poems! She’s gonna have to please them and no one else. You can’t ruin anything. Some authors have written their books in notebooks. Nothing was pretty or perfect. Scribbles and notes everywhere.
You can still format the file so that you can publish it later. But it’s about writing.
See what features have a short story, consider a story, take pen and note and write it easily.
Do best before you start writing a plan like your book (which has helped me very much), and then don’t worry what to do wrong, just write on it once you get in it much easier.
Good luck with your book
