How do the reaction mechanisms work again?

Hello,

The school year has started again, unfortunately I still don't understand chemistry.

I've been working on another problem for a good hour now and wanted to ask how you would solve this one (if you have the motivation and the time, I'd be happy to explain it, so I can at least learn something).

If you want to turn an alkane into an alkene, you have to remove hydrogen from it so that the bonding electrons that the carbon atoms need for the hydrogen bonds form C=C bonds. Remove hydrogen -> dehydrogenation, add hydrogen -> hydrogenation.

Aromatics are quite stable: without a catalyst, things only work under harsh conditions. But before I tell you all about it, you'd better grab your book and read the chapters on elimination and electrophilic substitution. It's certainly not demanding and won't take you more than 30 minutes. After that, you'll be able to solve the problems yourself!

Well, hexane and hexadiene are both listed below. I'd like to enter those. Then you can see what's being split off and immediately know the type and special form.
