How do I write/draw a light novel?

Hey! I usually draw mostly manga, but recently I came up with an idea for a story that everyone said would be more suited to a light novel. I thought the idea was pretty funny, but honestly, I don't know enough about light novels. I've never read one either.

  1. What do I have to take into account?
  2. Do you have any light novel recommendations for beginners so I can get an idea of what a light novel actually is?
  3. Are there “must-haves” for a good light novel?

Thanks for your tips!

What do I have to consider?

Light Novels mostly consist of dialogues, so 70% are dialogues. Therefore, the characters in Light Novels are important. The language is simple, the sentences are rather shorter and not nested. Each side and sentence should somehow advance the story, so avoid all unnecessary such as page length descriptions of environment, objects … etc. A Light Novel has so many 50 000 words, but I find it rather unimportant.

Do you have Light Novel recommendations for beginners so I can get a picture of what a Light Novel is all about?

What I would recommend would be the Spy x Family Light Novel.

Is there “Must Haves” for good Light Novel?

  • Many dialogues
  • Not so many pictures

Here is the construction of a Light novel:

So Light Novel are shorter novels mostly consisting of 50,000 words, with isolated illustrations.

Usually the faces are told from the me perspective of the main character.

There is a clearly small selection in Germany.

Which should be interesting, though, would be Rising the Shield Hero or Sword Art Online.
