the question is what you actually do. If you want to replace the old SSD, for example, with a bigger one, the cloning de SSD offers itself. As a rule, you can get (or download and install) a program from the manufacturer de new SSD that supports this comfortably.

If you don’t install a second hard drive, you can create an image (backup) of your SSD on an external disk using certain programs. Furthermore, you need a bootable USB stick from which you can start the computer later without the old operating system. Then you can install the new hard drive and play back your previously created backup.

To this end, for example, the program Easeus ToDo Backup free.
