How do I publish my music correctly?

I'd like to publish my own work via Distrokid, but I've heard that it's not easy due to copyright issues. I use NotePerformer, Sibelius, and Musescore. I've been told that these should hold the copyright and that I have to name them so that I can get a share of the credit, or have I misunderstood this?

They would be MP3 files of the works and therefore composed by me, no covers or anything like that.

So how do I publish correctly?

Your composition is your copyright. You can do what you want with your music. You can turn to a music label, or to music platforms like Bandcamp.com sign up, introduce and offer your music.

If you don’t have a label, then I would recommend you distrokid, I still think it’s better than this free program because the things are usually not worth it and are therefore free.

If you are interested in distrokid then you can sign up here and pay 7% less by this link
