How do I prepare for work?

I want to become a manager in a year..

The requirements are:

speak good English and ideally know the instructions by heart.

However, I can only read the instructions during working hours. This means I can't read them at home and memorize them. I also can't write anything down or anything like that because it's not allowed.

But somehow I have to learn it by heart and be able to do it.

What can I do?

I don’t want to keep asking the boss either.
