How do I get votes on Wattpad?

Hey, I really enjoy writing and I recently published a fanfiction on Wattpad. I update it often and already have 40 reads but no votes. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or how to get people to vote or comment.

I wrote a story a year ago and didn't get any feedback.

I would at least like to have comments as feedback.

I've also read fanfiction or other stories by other authors. They even had a lot of spelling mistakes, or the characters in the fanfiction were somehow out of character. And yet these authors still get votes and comments. I don't want to say my stories are perfect. They're far from it. But there are some authors with a lot of mistakes whose readers seem to like the story more. That's kind of frustrating, and I'm a bit desperate because I'd love to build a community of loyal readers on Wattpad, like other authors have already done.

Hello!

Well, I’ve been through everything. I had my sister from the beginning who always vowed. After two months or so, a vote came, I looked and saw that one of my sister’s followers discovered me. Then many more came. Meanwhile I have about eight to fifteen Votes for each Kapi, sometimes less.

My tips: Don’t give up! Other stories that interest you, vote and comment! Update your stories regularly! Make yourself “interested” (at RPG’s, competitions and co.! Go a bit on profile search (but not a follow for follow, that doesn’t bring anything (as soon as they realize that you are not interested in them, follow them)!) Follow those you like! Do not make your description so short, update the announcements (so you know you are active) and thank you personally for those who follow you (make you more sympathetic)! Log in to book clubs (I recommend @_featherofwords_ (book club of 100 words)!

Great success on Wattpad!

Hey!

Pretty much the same problem. I would recommend commenting on other stories (preferably fanfictions with the same topic). I won my most followers and readers. (Please don’t advertise for you, I hope you know what I mean.)

A well-designed profile is also extremely important. There are good tips in the book “Tipps to Success on Wattpad” by “NikolinaDrum”.

Do your readers remember voting and commenting, or perhaps ask them a question, something to discuss, or something simple: what is your favorite subject? That’s it.

Another possibility is a writing competition. There, your story is carefully read and assessed how good it is and why. If someone really seriously thinks you’ll get a really good feedback.

I hope I could help you!

Hello, I also write stories for Wattpad. I’ve got a few things on the quick that you could try:

  • Designing profile nice.Personally, I often come from profiles on their stories. And of course I look at a nice profile. So profile picture, background picture, possibly. Reading list(s), interesting bio possibly with emojis, different fonts, …
  • Make other people aware of you.If you left other books, just press the star. This gives a message to the author of history. Commenting is more effective here, as other people, apart from the author, will be aware of you. Join discussions in the comments.
  • Build contacts. You can answer your announcements in your message board or even what posts with other people. Of course, you can also post messages on your board, but this is only useful when it also reads people and under 20 followers, that is not often the case in my experience. If someone likes you, you can also write about PN with him*her. If someone marks you in a story, go on.
  • Talk to your readers. Thanks for Votes, respond to comments. Each commented/voted much better if you also get a “thank you” or an answer. And the more votes and comments you have, the more Wattpad pushes your story.
  • Regular updates.I know it can be stressful, but it’s very important. I love reading stories that are updated every week. Of course, it doesn’t have to be so often, but it can really attract many readers. My tip: Write enough chapters before you publish the story, because then you can even if you don’t get to write something up.
  • Pay attention to the quality of history.Read each chapter some paint before you upload it. Aren’t there any more spelling errors? Is the grammar true (especially when I find it important)? A simple solution is to run your chapters before publishing through a good writing program (such as Microsoft Word). The online correction at Wattpad is not enough. There are very many errors that are already marked in Word. If you don’t have Word, you can take the free Word Pad or just googlen. Are you well described? Did not set you a certain number of words for a chapter, but a certain action. Otherwise, you can write something too long or too short.
  • Join awards, book clubs, etc. What I think is also very important: to participate in various competitions/feedback rounds. Just search for an award overview, there is a good book where (almost) all awards are listed. In book clubs, you give feedback to a book within a certain time, for which someone makes the same at your book. There are also book reviews where you can simply get feedback.
  • Pay attention to a coherent and meaningful action. That’s really important. If the story only consists of eating and sleeping the main character and meeting all two chapters with friends, it is not a good story and I would stop reading it right away. Therefore, you should plan the story completely beforehand.
  • Let your characters look realistic. No one can do anything, create everything and does not experience any setbacks. Therefore: even the best characters sometimes have a bad day, write a bad note, etc.

I hope I could help you!

Wow! You wrote a lot. Everything you say is right. You seem to have experience with Wattpad! A few of the things you suggested (especially the tips for writing and correcting), I will certainly also use! Thank you, even if the answer was not addressed to me.

This thread was saved immediately. What a great overview. I’ve been laying cotton pad for some time before me. This looks like a great starting aid here, thank you very much! ๐Ÿ˜€

I know that, I started writing a story myself and didn’t even get a single vote for it (I write it in English, so it can be)

I can’t really help, but I feel very. I’m really struggling with my story, spelling, world building and everything, but even have fewer reads xD

And stories that sometimes seem like they wrote a drunk over 1000…

Hi!

That’s really bad.

If you like, I could read in. Am @thetasteoftears2022 on Wattpad, so write me down.

If I like the story, I would also vote if I didn’t, I could give you some tips to improve, as I already know something. I already belong to the acquaintances on Wattpad, if I’m not really famous and maybe I could help you get more readers.
