How do I get a Steam product key without access to my account?
I haven't been able to log into my Steam account since yesterday, so I contacted support.
The problem was that my password was apparently incorrect. So I clicked "Forgot password?" and had to enter my email address to receive a new one. Then I got a message saying there was no account associated with that address—which doesn't make any sense, since my account is definitely linked to that address, and I even regularly receive the Steam newsletter there (besides, I don't have another email address).
So I explained the situation to support and included screenshots proving that it was my account. I've now received a response saying that this isn't enough to get my account back. I should send my product key to support. I'm not 100% sure what a product key is (I googled it specifically, but I didn't quite understand it), but as far as I know, you can only access it when you're logged into your account, right?
How should I do this if I can't log in? Or is there another way?
I’m afraid if you haven’t secured the product keys before, you won’t come any further. To view the product keys, you need access to the account.
Or he’s got a game as retail around.
Because Steam is as good as no retail titles, it is likely to be relatively difficult.
Thanks for the answer. Then I’ll write it to the support. Hopefully, I’ll get to my account anyway, put so much time and money in there…
As good as no means no, you fool. But there is no fear of reading that comes at some point. You can do this, I believe in you!
Then my Orange Box and Call of Duty are just ne Illusion du Narr?
Have you got a CD DVD?
No, I only have the games on the Steam account. But I still have a coupon code that I have already redeemed on the account – do you think this could help?
Did you buy the games externally from Steam? If so you can see the keys there
No, I didn’t
