How can I upload Instagram stories in better quality?
Hi, I sometimes record videos with my iPhone 16 Pro. They're usually in 4K at 120 FPS, but when I upload them to my Instagram story, the quality is pretty poor—both FPS and image quality suffer significantly when uploading. I know there are a few options in the settings regarding ProRAW, HEIF MAX, etc. Is there any way to record and post videos in the best possible quality?
what is complete and total bullshit…
Instagram uses 1080×1920 at 30FPS.
Let me guess: Gamer Kiddie?!
120FPS is recorded when you want to have slow motion, then you take 120FPS and play it with 30FPS and everything is 4 times slower. Otherwise, that's bullshit.
The tiny thing you get with your camera settings is that your video is compressed more strongly when recording, so you suffer a quality loss and when you upload that, the server will re-calculate on Instagram and then a quality loss happens again. So you have double quality loss at the end and because of your completely wrong settings, especially because of the 120FPS, there is less quality left
best you use a video that the requirements corresponds to 1080×1920 with 30FPS.
Try 30 or 60 FPS. Ideal for story is actually always 1080 p and 30 FPS. 4k unfortunately can't show Instagram and with 120 fps what sounds natural for the first time. Mostly watch videos only cheap. For normal videos, 30 FPS. If you want to slow it down twice, 60 FPS is a good choice and 120 FPS are very good for slowing down
120fps doesn't need a person if you don't want to make slow motions. And I assume that Instagram does not support 120fps and converts it to 60 or even 30fps anyway. And with 4K videos – most phones don't even have 4K screen resolution, even your iPhone 16 Pro has just 2.6K. The bigger your videos are, the stronger they are compressed from Instagram and then the quality suffers.
Record your videos in HD and 30fps (or convert your 4K videos yourself) and the quality will probably be much better if you upload them.
what should 4k resolution with 120 fps on cell phones or tablets that cannot reproduce such high video quality? Even the HD resolution on a 5 inch cell phone display is still crisp, because it is just so "vinky" compared to a 32 inches/80 cm screen.
Therefore, when uploading, this is reduced to the normal standard, which you (pampered by the pc-monitor or tv-drive with such power) now consider "right bad".
Think also times to the huge amounts of data that requires a 4k video with 120 fps, this is totally insane for wireless transmission (even with 5G), because at any location in traffic there is a "bottleneck" that will slow down the enormously and trigger the "egg clock-rotating" for minutes.
