How can I prepare for ballet?

I want to start ballet after the summer break. I'd like to start stretching exercises soon. Ideally, it's best for my legs, since I'm not very flexible. Is it bad not having very flexible legs? I can't do the splits, and I can't raise my legs very high. If you know of any good exercises, please write here, or a YouTube video would be great too.

Hello,

first, great that you want to start with ballet.

When you start ballet, no one of you expects any miracles.

First of all, it should be fun and offer you a balance with everyday life.

You can do stretching exercises, of course, but I don't think it's really necessary. I also don't know if you can judge yourself so well what you have to work on yourself.

I'd advise you here, start first, and after a few hours talk to the teacher what you're supposed to work on. She can also tell you what the best exercises are for you.

Just let it come to you.

Hi, so it's not unusual to be unexpanded as a beginner. But you can prepare yourself…

For example

  • "Butterfly" to stretch your outward position in the thigh.
  • Stretching feet outward
  • Half balancing
  • With stretched legs and hands on the feet
  • And maybe train your belly as you have to stretch it over a long time

But as I said as a beginner it is completely okey not yet to be able to get a perfect splits ect

The best before stretching is 20-30 minutes full warming.

We often do partner exercises during martial training. eg has held a leg and stretched slowly or pressed the back straight forward when sitting with spread legs.

There are very diverse stretching exercises
