How can I permanently delete Telegram chats?

If you delete a contact and then delete the chat on WhatsApp, the person is gone forever.

Only with Telegram is it different. Even if the contact is deleted from your phone's address book and you delete the chat, the contact is still there. This isn't good for me, as I tend to keep re-establishing contact with people who I find negative, right up until the bitter end.

Is there a way to stop these contacts from being displayed in Telegram?

I’ve got the same problem and guess that’s people who fed my tel number, didn’t find out what I can do about it.

you need to delete the contact extra at telegram

so search into the contact list at teleg in there and then delete exrtra as contact then the person def is deleted
