How can I improve my memory and remember things for longer?

Please read the text first, then reply

The problem is with me, I'm not the only one, but I want to do something about it.

This is just one example: I'm talking to someone and they're telling me something. I try to listen and remember everything. Then the person asks me something again, and I'm like, "Oh, wait a minute, what was that again?" Then the person repeats themselves, which is already uncomfortable, and then I don't remember it again.

It's the same at work: My boss asks me, "Hey, yesterday you prepared everything for the company here, 5 of this, 5 of that, and 5 of that, but we only had 3 of those. I don't remember what that was, you packed it." And I'm like (uhhh, uhhh, uhhh). Then my boss has to look it up on the computer, etc.

You see what I mean? My father was so good at it. You said something to him, you could ask him after three weeks, and he still remembered.

How can I train myself to do something like that? Sure, there are always some who are better at it and others worse, but you can work on it. How can I do that? It would make many things in my life easier.

What can you do? For example: There's a reason I don't read books. I read two pages, and after the third page, I don't remember what was on the first page. It's so annoying.

Is there anything I can do about it? I'd love to be able to do that like my dad. I've always envied him for that.

I would be happy if you had any tips for me.

I would strongly suspect that you have a weakening. My best friend has them too. The best way to go to the doctor and let it be cleared as it can limit you very much. :
