How can I get myself to learn?
Why can't I overcome myself and start learning?
For me, it's a huge hurdle to just sit down and start studying. I just can't seem to do that. I'd much rather continue watching my series or listen to a podcast. Every time I have to study for a vocabulary test or an assignment, I do something else instead and then start studying properly the evening before work or the vocabulary test.
This is really annoying, but I still do the same thing every time
I know that. That's also procrastination: putting things off.
Cramming is stupid. Engage with the material by playing with it. We're born with the urge to play, and so is dreaming. Look for additional information from other sources, be creative, draw something. Connections need to form in your brain, not knots. Then you'll suddenly have many memories and mnemonics, and you'll be able to deduce things from one to another. And if you don't understand a definition, look up the meaning of each word and redefine it for yourself. If you have to calculate a 3-number matrix, practice the whole thing with a 4-number matrix. In history, don't just cram in the names of kings, but read up on who they were related to and what they were like, and—oh, wonder—you've memorized the year along the way. You'll learn the entire material as an accessory, not as a burden.
