How can I encrypt my account number on the internet?

Yes, of course I'm paranoid. Anyone who doesn't have that and randomly posts their bank account number on the internet isn't my friend. When things get serious, I never have more than 500 euros in my account; I can live with that. A friend's 5,000 went missing, and only because the front man got cold feet and went to the police did she, by all chance, get the money back.

So, every now and then I'm asked to provide my bank details in classified ads. Depending on the tone of the request, I'll reconsider. But it would be nice to be able to share my bank details in encrypted form with nice people (and there are some there, too). Does anyone have any ideas?

I can’t understand your paranoia. Any unauthorised direct debit can be returned within the deadline. With my IBAN, nobody gets into my account. My login is different from the account number, my bank requires – as required – 2-factor authentication and then you have to guess the password.

I would not necessarily want to distribute login + password free, but I trust that the combination of unknown login + password with 2FA protects me from anyone wanting to enter my account via my IBAN.

within the time limit

And it’s very long with 13 months. It is necessary to be very inattentive in order to make this deadline expire.

You can return any debit.

In addition, you can use the charging method for various companies (Internet, mobile phone, electricity…) What do you think is not just honest people sitting there. There you also have access to your bank account and could cause a load from your account. That doesn’t happen either.

The bank shall be liable by the client in the event of a repayment of the debit. This is why the bank is very careful to check whether they offer a direct debit method to the customer.

If it gets serious.

First of all, the probability is that it will be extremely low.

With the Iban alone you can use a maximum unauthorized direct debit to get to the money.

The account holder has 13 months (more than 1 year!) Time to revoke an unauthorized direct debit.

So, from time to time, I will be asked to give my bank account at classifieds.

Of course, people can’t transfer money to your account.

There are people who don’t keep looking at the account.

You have 13 months. Even if you look at the account only 1x a month, the 13x can be noticed without having any damage. At such a distance you should look at the account at least. You can’t talk about it all the time.

I personally look at my account every day. It’s very fast on the phone. People who don’t look at their account for over a year should worry about whether their financial behaviour is really so optimal.
