How are cadaver dogs trained?

Does the police buy body parts from the university (anatomy) and hide them outside, in training buildings and behind concrete walls and then the dogs have to learn to smell them?

And do you specifically use human flesh in various stages of decomposition?

They work with scraps of corpse tissue. These are then placed in small tubes or similar containers. The smell of decomposition always has a consistent odor. The dogs learn to recognize this, just like drugs, and can then search for it on command.

Of course, fingers, brains or anything else are not simply stuffed in somewhere so that the dog learns to search

To my knowledge and after a brief research, no body parts are used for this purpose, that would probably be illegal, but clothing from corpses, human blood and other contaminated material are used.

No.
