Help what's going on?

Someone in my family just said he got a call from the doctor about a blood test or something and he should go to the hospital as soon as possible because of acute kidney failure??!!?

Huh? How come they only noticed this now? He gets blood drawn quite often.

What does acute mean? Especially in cases of kidney failure?

Thanks for all the answers!!!!!

This means that it takes place at the moment and this must be handled immediately. Since it wasn’t there before, no one can have noticed that before.

At some point, it’ll be detected. Maybe it was always good, but now it wasn’t.

He’ll probably get a dialysis now.
