Help, I can't use a USB multi-plug on my laptop. What am I doing wrong?
Hello, I recently bought this laptop and I'm having a problem with my ports. Since the laptop only has one HDMI output (I have two external monitors) but also two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 outputs, I first bought this docking station and then this one , assuming one was defective. The monitor works fine, but now whenever I try to connect a multi-port adapter to even one of the other USB ports, the mouse and keyboard flicker whenever they're not plugged directly into the laptop's physical USB ports.
Define "flicker":
The mouse keeps freezing and the keyboard freezes (you can see this on the keyboard because the lighting goes out briefly (flickers)).
This means I can only use the HDMI outputs on both docking stations… The LAN ports don't work either and I can't even use my older adapter anymore.
Then I came up with the idea that it was the power supply to the USB pins of the laptop. If I try to draw more power from a port than is available, some ports obviously no longer work (which, mind you, still works on my other desktop computer with the hardware I bought…).
However, the problem also occurs when I connect the other adapter (link above, brand: Anker) to a port and then connect only one USB device to it (in this case, the mouse). See image:
So that can't be the reason…
It seems that my laptop has some problem with any kind of adapter even if in a 1:1 ratio
Can anyone help me? I'm desperate here…
From professional experience, I can also say if you have a docking station (USB-C Thunderbolt), which is best for those from the manufacturer of your laptop. We did not have good experiences with mixing manufacturers. Then the external connections do not go, or the USB ports, etc., alternatingly, not always the same error image permanently.
UBS-C Thunderbolt 4 seems to be standard, but not every manufacturer seems to be optimally adhering to the specified standards.
Since you have an omen from HP, definitely get one of HP, which is also recommended for the Omen series by the manufacturer. They’re not quite cheap, but they’re finally working as expected.
What do you say about the offer? can that work?:

With 80 euros significantly cheaper than the one that will be praised for the Omen series (e.g. the one for Omen 15 costs about 130 euros). I would definitely try it before I grab the more expensive dock especially for the Omen series.
Thank you
The first is not a docking station sodern a gaming laptop.
The second is not a docking station. Sure is just that it is cheap China goods: a foreign business.
There is “Docking Station” but nix by Thunderbold – and exactly DAS is probably the problem.
Okay, sorry, I thought that was the first one. but the internet is flooded by the dingers
