Hello,

Here’s the food of Robert.

This is the genitive (wessen?), therefore actually

Here’s Roberts Essen.

But, The Dativ is his death to the Genitiv!

Here is the food of Robert.

Names

In contrast to normal substantives, in the case of person names such as in English, a previous genitive is usually formed with –s, but also usually the preposition of is used. As a stylistically less good is the reconfigured form.

Example: Personal name

Genitiv: Peter’s house

spoken German: the house of Peter

less good style: the house Peters

I would like to add to this very good answer that there are dialects that – unlike high German Usus – would say “from Robert”. This is how I experience it at least with my acquaintances from the Upper Rhine. 😉

Who is it from? Dativ! From the Robert, so vo’m Robert.

Most often they say “of”, but the other way of writing would not be wrong.

This comes to the context!

variant 1:

The food belongs to Robert and is meant for him. Then it’s Robert’s food.

variant 2

Robert has prepared the food for others, also for you…then is the food from Robert.

For variant 1 please use Genitiv

I don’t like both.

I’d say this is Robert’s food.
