HDD broken – how to remove?

Hello everyone,

My HDD is broken. I just removed it. However, I still get an error message when I try to open the "Downloads" folder, for example, which was previously on the HDD. I also can't launch games (on Steam) because (I think) Steam is still looking for the old, removed hard drive, even though the games are already reinstalled on my SSD.

How do I tell Windows that the HDD is removed so that Windows no longer looks for it but uses the SSD (to which I copied all the data) as the new source?

"Windows" is not looking for programs that have internally stored that are still in the directory.

These programs have to be reinstalled (unfortunately).

The DOWNLOAD folder can be reassigned by selecting the DOWNLOAD entry on the left in Windows Explorer, right mouse buttons, then menu properties and then specifying the correct path:

Steam can be told where the new games are.

Settings => Save => Add drive
(Can be that it is slightly different in German, I have Steam in English)

There you enter the directory, then Steam is looking for everything. Super practical when you restart the computer.
With many other programs and @IDirk is right.
