Has meat consumption decreased because meat has become 2-3 times more expensive?

So since 2020, meat prices have exploded because fewer people are eating meat now.

Meat has been and is still blurred.

It would be desirable to look back at quality and only occasionally buy meat.

I just looked after

1kg pork is about 12 €

If you calculate about 200g meat per serving, it is not expensive

This will be a factor. In addition, the introduction of replacement products that are now available in every supermarket.

Unfortunately, many of these products are much more processed and partially inferior. In addition, it will continue to support the corporations who have directly promoted mass animal husbandry for decades and benefited immensely.

Meat consumption has been steadily falling by a few percent for years (and not only since 2020). This is not because the meat had become so exorbitantly expensive in recent years, but because much more people choose a vegetarian or vegan way of life.

Or because they generally simply want to consume fewer meats and remember that at the times of their grandparents there were not meat daily, but a maximum of two to three times a week and thus something special.

However, there are also many people in which meat is on the plan every day for every single meal. That this cannot really be healthy should be clear to everyone now.

Do not think that it is a lack of demand that will increase prices. There is still a lot of meat and its products consumed in D.

But the desire many for better meat may be a reason. This is more expensive in production.

Energy prices will also be a reason. Stalks must be heated or air-conditioned.

Feed has also become more expensive.

The higher meat prices will, however, lead to many not only restricting their consumption for health reasons, or more often dispense with meat. By the way, I can’t remember anything from 2-3 times more expensive. Not even in the restaurant meat prices have risen so much.

Then give me an example of the 200-300% price increase.

Meat and sausage are not 2-3 times as expensive. For a chicken, for example, that previously cost 4.50, you pay about 5.80 today. No one forces you to eat in restaurants. If you do it anyway – don’t complain.

We have meat from our animals, but since my mother Vegetarian is more often without meat. Or if there’s meat, I’ll always say it

Of course, consumption goes down when you drive the price massively upwards.

Never mind how much I eat. But realistically, I probably eat less than before

Yes, that will be the main reason

The price for the kilogram of pig fillet has risen from 6.99 to 9-11 euros. It’s not a double. Cattles are now available from 12 euros per kilogram, formerly around the 9 euros.

Has meat consumption fallen because meat has become 2-3 times more expensive?

Or is it because people finally realize what comes on their plates?

You mean they didn’t know that meat was made from animals before?
