Hard drives are not recognized?
Hi,
I have two hard drives, one for a laptop and one for a computer. I'd like to see what's on them, but my laptop doesn't display anything. One hard drive isn't recognized at all, and the other is recognized for a millisecond and then disappears again. What's wrong?
I have a Lenovo laptop and both hard drives are Seagate. I've tried everything, but nothing works.
According to the internet, you should just plug them in and then they should be displayed, but that doesn't work for me…
OK So you have a SATA USB adapter. There are now two possibilities:
I guess your hard drive is a HDD (a rotating hard drive). Smaller HDD needs 3-7Watt and larger HDD up to 11Watt.
The USB_2 connection (2.5W) is not sufficient. If available, then connect the hard drive to a USB_3 connection. He's got 4.5W. Even better would be a USB_TypC connection – which brings 15W
If this is not possible: there is a case for external HDD to buy. The known SATA connection is located in this housing. An external power connection is installed on the outside of the housing, via which the hard disk (with a corresponding power supply) can be supplied with operating current.
The second option would unfortunately mean that the hard drives are defective.
Thank you. So it must be because I don't think both hard drives can be broken. I'll buy the stuff described above and see if it works:) Great
Hi again,
so your tip worked out 🙂 However, only one hard disk works. The other is not recognized by the laptop at all, so it does not sound the signal that something is on the USB port. One hard drive is detected with drive E: the other is not displayed at all. The hard drive is running, but as I find a strange sound in the clock.
Somehow clrrr… clrrr…… clrrr… clrr…. always in the same rhythm.
Can I do anything there?
Soo, I've made myself smart again, apparently the hard drive is really broken. It gives this typical click of death of itself…

I guess it's done.
Nevertheless, thanks for getting the others to run 🙂
