Hair loss in bangs?
It's about Gyzmo again, so I'll warn you… Yesterday I noticed that on closer inspection his mane isn't the biggest problem. It's more the tail, and it's not that it's thin or fine or anything like that, but rather that you always pull out an awful lot of hair when brushing or plucking. It's not necessarily the technique. The hair also comes out when you just stroke the tail. I know that usually individual hairs fall out, but in his case they fall out almost in clumps. He doesn't have any soon patches or anything. No, his tail actually looks completely normal. I don't know what the problem is. He's in a group of seven horses at the moment, somewhere between a Shetland pony and an Arabian-Berber, and none of the other ponies/horses have such problems. It shouldn't be a lack of nutrients either, since he gets the same feed as everyone else except for one different one. He himself isn't particularly large, if that plays a role in his nutritional needs. I also doubt that he's getting his hair pulled out by other horses, but of course I can't swear to that 100%.
Is there anything we can do to improve maintenance, and if so, how? Thanks in advance!
possible
the hairy eagle with a visible root – right?
order the vet. also because of the teeth.
Even if all horses get the same food, they are different breeds, different ages and different sports requirements for the animals. So you don't all have the same nutrient requirement. Therefore, even with exactly the same feed in an animal there can be a deficiency, whereas the other animals have no problem. Therefore, you cannot exclude this point immediately just because the other horses do not lose hair as yours.
But that still doesn't mean that it has to be on the food.
It can also be allergies, a hormone problem, a fungus, or parasites.
So you should first have a blood test with your vet. Many things can be excluded. Also a skin and a feces sample should be taken if you really want to find out the reason.
OK I first took the food in sight because with similar questions usually directly refer to the food. But thanks for the Council
Feed is very often the reason. In addition, it is what you can simply "remove" yourself.
You should definitely talk to the owner. She should know what's going on with her ponies.
If the little ones get exactly the same food and quantity. It can also be an overfeed of minerals.
If there are only separate hairs on the whistle, this might also be a reaction to these small flies. Don't come on like the hot ones.
Otherwise, a lot has already been mentioned here.
He himself only gets rough food and stands on the pasture day. Extra food only gets a pony.
It's a change of fur to the winter fur again, so it's normal that summer fur is falling out again.
When long hair goes out in the crowd, there's a metabolic problem.
Even if all horses are fed equally, it doesn't mean that your horse needs exactly the same as horse X next to it. Lack of zinc, B vitamins and vitamin D are the main contaminants for hoof and skin problems – also they are among the most important substances of intestinal health. Intestinal health = skin healthy.
Beer yeast, sunflower seeds, good mineral food helps.
You don't brush long hair and not even daily. The horses that are always brushed with us have rat tails, no males or tails that remember 2 year old horses.
